A day in the village of Fornelli

If you are on holiday on the Adriatic coast it is worth taking a trip to the Molise hinterland, to Fornelli. On 13 and 14 August the medieval festival takes place in one of the villages that has preserved the architectural structure from those times. The re-enactment is announced with the drawbridge ceremony. Its opening wants to symbolize the opening of the ancient nucleus to contemporaneity. A change of mentality that promises the enhancement of medieval houses, of the weight of history, of the walls that still close the access from the valley. Trumpets sound and the flag-wavers fly, skilfully defying the flames of the torches. A blast from the past with the ancient game of fire, imprisoned in meteors that whirl in the hands of the artist. Gunsmiths, apothecaries and blacksmiths work in the caverns of the alleys and activities are organized for children who can approach, touch and know. Ancient roots within the walls of the village where the wind pushes the scent of olive trees and cultivated lands.
