(Ivrea)
Genre: culture   nature

Ivrea is a large center, considered the capital of the Canavese area, has 24,000 inhabitants and boasts ancient origins, it is in fact the Eporedia of Roman construction, whose vestiges remain clearly visible in the amphitheater, in the main bridge, a work of daring engineering with 10 arches and in the minor bridge. Today Ivrea is instead of the nineteenth century. Linked to the name of Olivetti, its industrial vocation is palpable, to which the red brick factory of Olivetti was the driving force. It is part of the Via Francigena, therefore also religiosity is strong; noteworthy in this sense is the Cathedral dedicated to Santa Maria Assunta, Romanesque structures, boasts two bell towers and a crypt. Also noteworthy is the church of San Nicola da Tolentino. Finally, the Baroque Church of San Gaudenzio should be remembered. Crossed by the Dora Baltea which represents its beating heart. Do not miss the numerous towers, one of which is that of Santo Stefano. The Savoy Castle from 1357 is very famous. Lastly we remember the famous historical carnival of Ivrea with the famous battle of the oranges. Last curiosity. Ivrea has been a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 2018.
