Visit Lecce and surroundings in two days

Where: lecce
(Salento)
Genre: culture   nature   wine and food

Lecce is a city famous for its churches, more than 40, and is called the city of the Baroque. Our two-day tour can start from the first electric clock in the world, the wonder clock located in piazza Sant'Oronzo. Also not to be missed is the Roman amphitheater of Lecce, still largely buried under the city, it is said that it was discovered by an architect who noticed the strange circular position of the nearby buildings. This will be followed by an indispensable break in the historic “Natale” pastry shop, to taste typical Salento sweets including “maritati” figs, a good omen during weddings. The tour continues with a visit to the arch of Prato, a symbol also included in the Lecce stadium choirs. The day after, tour of the “conti zecca” cellars where it is possible to walk among the rows and barrels to finally taste a good red wine. One of the most beautiful beaches is Porto Cesareo on the Ionian Sea, but the Adriatic coast with its famous cave of poetry is also unmissable. Another magnificent beach is located in Torre dell'Orso, the beach of the two sisters.
