The pearl of Lake Bolsena

Where: capodimonte
(Capodimonte)
Genre: events    culture   fun   folklore

The video summarizes in a few minutes the pristine beauty of Capodimonte, a town in the province of Viterbo called the 'Pearl of Lake Bolsena'. The symbol of the city is the Rocca Farnese, an example of medieval military architecture that still retains ancient remains from the Etruscan and Roman times. Capodimonte is also a seaside resort, able to offer tourists small private beaches, clear waters and outdoor activities. Lovers of boat, canoe or kayak trips will have the opportunity to explore the Bisentina island from the outside, the largest of the two islands of Lake Bolsena, whose archaeological finds highlight the Etruscan, Roman and Saracen presence in the area. At the end of the Eighties a monossila dugout from the Bronze Age was recovered from the depths of its waters, today preserved, together with other examples of boats, in the 'Museum of navigation in inland waters' of the city. Among the most important events in Capodimonte the feast in honor of S. Antonio Abate is mentioned, famous for the traditional parades and competitions of the “butteri”, that is the shepherds on horseback.
