Seminara, ceramics and history of the 1500s

Where: seminara
(Seminara)
Genre: events    culture   nature   folklore

We are located in the green of the Piana di Goia Tauro, in the city of Seminara, which lies on the cliffs of the Tyrrhenian Sea and Cala Janculla and lies at the foot of the green slopes of the Aspromonte. Here, in the 1500s, two of the greatest Italic battles, and at the same time a worldly place of the time, which attracted nobles, artists and famous poets, who left their testimonies, enriching even more an already wonderful territory from the point of naturalistic view. A city famous for its unique ceramics and for being the destination of thousands of faithful who flock here every August 14 to celebrate the Black Madonna, in the church of Saints Elia and Filarete. Its historic center is a pearl not to be missed, you will walk among portals, palaces, Renaissance traces, all in a setting of ruins of fortifications, city walls and the Mezzatesta Castle. Also like the Rossella fountain and the Rosrw arch, the remains of the oldest Calabrian hospital, built in 1500, the remains of which are preserved in the Town Hall.
