Mormanno in the Pollino Park

Where: mormanno
(Mormanno)
Genre: culture   nature   wine and food   fun   useful information

On the border with Basilicata is Mormanno. The historic center of the Borgo winds in a spiral on the coast of Monte San Michele and has an articular reservoir that places it in the lake tourism circuit. The lake in fact enhances the surroundings. In this part of the Park you can hear the howls of the wolves and the roaring of the roe deer, make excursions of great value among the larch pines that live among the rocks and which are native here. The Borgo also offers a lot from the artistic point of view such as the Cathedral of Santa Maria del Colle, with the Baroque facade and the wooden interiors sculpted by the master carvers of the 1600s. There are also important testimonies of more recent times, such as the Parco delle Rimembranze, dedicated to the fallen of the world war with the analogous sanctuary. Mormanno makes the most of the tourist offer by placing itself in a network of Municipalities of the Pollino that complete the hiking mapping of the Park. The spicy soppressata and the sweet boccolotto are typical products.
