We are at one of the most famous wine festivals of the nation, in Friuli: at the Bertiolo wine festival. The event, born in 1950, then celebrated for over 70 years from 16 to 31 March, maintains a traditional imprint by looking at the needs of the public; every year, in fact, tens of hundreds of people from all over Friuli and the Peninsula come to Bertiolo to taste the best wines. The city is filled with cloisters for the sale of wine and food products and it is possible to admire the exhibition-competition of wines, all with the DOC brand, from all over the Friulian territory. In ancient times and during the first editions, the wine was kept inside large demijohns, traditionally one for red wine and one for white, certainly of lower quality. If initially the festival was organized for the peasants and the local population, over time this tradition has grown to become an important reference point on a national level.
