(Valle Aurina e di Tures)
Genre: culture   nature   wine and food   fun

Valle Aurina is one of the most unspoiled natural areas in Italy. It is surrounded by over 80 mountains which, in some cases exceed three thousand meters, and has maintained the customs and traditions of the Alpine populations unaltered. It is part of the Val Pusteria and, at the same time, also of the Valle di Tures. 'The paths of the sun' is the name given to the naturalistic paths of the area, often interspersed with some wooden sculptures made by artists to embellish the area. The municipality of Gais is the first in the valley and is known for the Roggia path that crosses dense woods. At the entrance of the town, you can admire the Neuhaus castle, an ancient medieval residence today the site of private and public events. Campo Turres instead welcomes tourists into the most luxuriant nature and pampers them with a large wellness center. There is also here a medieval castle among the most beautiful in the Alps, and it is possible to practice paragliding. Selva dei Molini extends at the foot of Punta Bianca and is known for Lake Neves, a reference point for mountain trails and the fulcrum of the 'water valley'. A path that crosses the entire valley following the path of the water up to the modern Water Museum in Lapago. In ancient times the valley was used as a mine and today in Pedoi it is possible to visit the museum that allows you to learn about the ancient mining activity with passable tunnels and faithful reconstructions. The municipalities of the area (Gais, Campo Tures, Predoi, Selva dei Molini and Valle Aurina) cooperate in order to make the valley a welcoming place for visitors who love the mountains and all related activities: sports, walks, nature trails and typical gastronomic products of the area.
