Things to do in Italy > Ogliastra Coast

Lanusei, history, art and festivals

Where: lanusei
(Lanusei)
Genre: events    culture   nature   wine and food   fun

We are in Sardinia, in the village of Ogliastra, in a village that slides downstream and climbs up the mountains at the same time, we are in Lanusei. This territory embraces mountainous reliefs, gentle hills, and plains that flow into the blue of the Mediterranean. Surrounded by forests of holm oaks, chestnuts and downy oaks, and above all conifers. Lanusei is a village, partly ancient, made up of paved paths, tree-lined avenues and well-kept residential areas. Its most interesting monuments to visit are above all those of worship, such as the Cathedral of Santa Maria Maddalena, in the heart of the city, in Piazza Vittorio Emanuele. Inside we can admire works painted in oil, watercolor and mosaics. The Sanctuary of the Madonna dell'Ogliastra, the Temple of Don Bosco, the Church of Cristo Re and the Country Church of Santi Cosma e Damiano are also enchanting structures to see. There is also an archaeological complex from the prehistoric-Nuragic age. There is no shortage of secrets and festivals, such as that of the Cherries at the end of June, or that of July 30 where there are games and wine tastings in honor of Mary Help of Christians.
