Termoli is an Italian town in the province of Campobasso. The village is one of the few in all of Italy that does not have a documented history, this is because in 1566 the city was stormed by the Turks, who set fire to all the documentation concerning its history, in fact there are still many mysteries today. unsolved; as evidence of this stormy event there is the Swabian castle, which was supposed to represent an impregnable fortress, but at the time something went wrong. Even today every year, on August 15, there is a historical re-enactment that remembers this terrible event, in which a large part of the walls was destroyed. The castle has been a national monument since 1902, it has a very simple architecture, without ornaments, the characteristics suggest that it was built in the Norman era, and is called the Swabian Castle, because Frederick II of Swabia had a pre-existing tower fortified and enlarged, this was the defensive heart of the village. Termoli is characterized by very narrow alleys that were used to have an escape route in case of assaults during the wars, to avoid the main roads; the narrowest is 'Rejecelle' which has a maximum width of just 41 centimeters. The sea is for Termoli the greatest resource, the city in fact has its roots and its history right here, a precious place for fishing and today also for tourism. The trebuchets also remain from the past, ancient fishing tools made of wood and ropes, they allowed to catch the schools of fish that passed near the coasts. In the center of Termoli we find the widespread hotels, that is a way to host tourists respecting the local architecture and the tradition of the past.
