Priverno is a center of Lazio, in the province of Latina, basically maintains a medieval aspect, but the origins are Roman. Located 151 meters above sea level, it has 14,000 inhabitants. Artistically very rich, it has several religious buildings worthy of mention. The cathedral is from the 13th century with an interesting interior with remarkable paintings and frescoes. The church of San Giovanni from the 9th century is of great value, with very interesting cycles of Tuscan frescoes. To visit the Romanesque church of San Benedetto, XIII century with an imposing bell tower. The church of Sant'Antonio Abate dating back to 1336 is especially pleasant for its internal frescoes. Priverno has the gothic-Cistercian Abbey of Fossanova as its flagship, built in 1163, of gigantic proportions, it deserves a closer visit. The interior with the chapter room is of absolute importance, while the cloister with garden is of enchanting beauty. Legend also has it that Saint Thomas Aquinas spent the last years of his life here and died here.
