Tornimparte is a town in the province of L'Aquila, in Abruzzo, located in the south-western part of the Conca Aquiliana. The history of the city is linked to the dominations that have characterized the province of L'Aquila over the centuries; the city of Tornimparte passed from Roman to Lombard dominion and then ended up in the hands of the Kingdom of Sicily. The church of San Panfilo is one of the Aquilan excellences of the fifteenth century; the church has an original four-nave plan with Roman and Baroque elements. Inside the church there is a cycle of frescoes made by Saturnino Gatti between 1490 and 1494. The church of Santo Stefano, damaged and rebuilt several times over the centuries, due to the 1985 earthquake the church was no longer used for religious ceremonies until in 2011 it was completely restored and inaugurated. Near the church of Santo Stefano are the ruins of the Castle of Sant'Angelo from the eighth century. In recent years, the municipality of Tornimparte has tried to carry out a redevelopment project in the tourism sector, aimed at enhancing the territory with the rediscovery of the Castellaccio or the castle of Sant'Angelo. The summer camp project was born in agreement with the municipality to welcome the children of the city to teach them the healthy values of friendship.
