(Sella Giudicarie)
Genre: nature   useful information

Sella Giudicarie is an Italian town of 2,897 inhabitants in the autonomous province of Trento in Trentino-Alto Adige. The scattered municipality was established on 1 January 2016 following the merger of the municipalities of Bondo, Breguzzo, Lardaro and Roncone, which constitutes its capital. The name is due to its position in the heart of the Giudicarie Valleys, in the south-west of Trentino. The territory has been permanently inhabited since the early Middle Ages, and has always been linked to breeding. The Church of Sant'Andrea, built in 1860-62, rises along the main street of the town. Inside you can see elegant marble altars and valuable representations. La Rocca is a locality overlooking the town of Breguzzo; it was once an important military control base. Subsequently conquered by the Lodrons, a powerful Trentino family originating from the plain of Storo, after alternating and eventful events, it was abandoned towards the sixteenth century and today only the ruins remain. Thanks to its favorable position and surrounded by nature, from this town it is possible to take numerous suggestive paths, for example: Walk to the Roncaie Park with detour to the Fiana di Bondo park, Walk to the locality of S. Antonio and Passeggiata del Pianone.
