San Benedetto del Tronto is one of the pearls of the Riviera delle Palme, a tourist area of the Marche region. It is located at the mouth of the Tronto river and is an important fishing port. The highest part of the city is represented by the so-called 'high town', that is the ancient village, a few steps from the sea, where the Torre dei Gualtieri dominates, of medieval origin, also called 'Mastio della Rocca'. In front of the tower is the church of San Benedetto Martire built on the tomb of the saint. His relics are kept inside. Going down from the ancient village towards the modern center of the city we can observe another important religious building, namely the Church of San Giuseppe, in neoclassical style. This area is the liveliest part of the city with shops, restaurants and well-kept streets decorated with many sculptures that in some cases are inherited from the Museum of the Sea, in other cases it is contemporary art. Continuing towards the sea you will find a suggestive blue building, next to the Pineta Buozzi, two beautiful places in the frame of the sea. The building has become the symbol of tourism in San Benedetto, and today it hosts exhibitions and artistic events. The city's waterfront is famous above all for its width, we are talking about nine kilometers of coastline full of establishments, nature, clubs and restaurants. A stop not to be forgotten is the Museo del Mare, a museum center spread throughout the city which contributes to embellishing it.
