Visit Peschiera sul Garda

Where: peschiera-del-garda
(Peschiera sul Garda)
Genre: events    culture   nature

Peschiera sul Garda is a Venetian town in the province of Verona lying on the southern shores of the large lake. It has 11,000 inhabitants. The visit can only start from the pedestrian bridge that crosses the external canal of the ancient fortress at Porta Brescia, the ancient western entrance to the fortress. The historic center rises on an islet, over time equipped with defensive walls and bastions. Together with Verona, Mantua and Legnago it forms the defensive quadrilateral wanted by the Austrians. Do not miss the ancient patrol walkway that joins the ramparts, which is still viable and from which you can enjoy a wonderful view. The historic building is of great value, where after the defeat of Caporetto the glorious and heroic resistance on the Piave was organized. Inside the Palace, the hall of the famous Peschiera convention of 1917 between King Vittorio Emanuele III and the allies is unaltered. The Voltoni bridge is interesting with its beautiful terracotta arches, overlooking the middle canal. Peschiera offers a series of theme parks (Gardaland, Canevaword) with the most varied attractions. It is also possible to relax in one of the many beaches available nearby. Peschiera is a very popular tourist center (800,000 visitors / year) thanks to the many events that are organized here, in addition to the liveliness and nightlife that distinguish it.
