Portoscuso, a small village in the province of Carbonio-Iglesias composed of a constellation of hamlets. Originally an intimate fishing village from Gonnesa. Its name derives from its location, completely hidden by the sand dunes and nestled between beaches and cliffs. Its coast is a tortuous embroidery that delimits the land with the turquoise sea, full of picturesque coves and recesses, evocative coves and breathtaking views. Its most beautiful beach is that of Portopaglietto, made of soft white sand, perfect for scuba diving. Other spectacular beaches are Portopaglia, that of Funtanamare and the Rock of the Pan di Zucchero. Heading further north is Cala Domestica. Here we not only find enchanting beaches but also history, such as the Spanish Tower erected in 1594, made of tuff and trachyte, from there the Church of Santa Maria d'Itra and the trap of Su Pranu, the most interesting historical testimony, located in the square of Santa Maria d'Itra consisting of the typical dwellings of the tonnarotti, built in 1500.
