Dolceacqua, Monet's bridge in a fairytale village

Where: dolceacqua
(Dolceacqua)
Genre: events    culture   folklore

We are in an enchanted village, rich in stories and legends, we are in Dolceacqua, a village of medieval origin, in the province of Imperia. It almost looks like a postcard, with its colorful houses, the river that flows below them and the beautiful, romantic, ancient bridge that crosses the small town. Built in the fifteenth century, symbol of the village, with the Castle behind it, famous for having been painted by Monet, in fact you will find yourself in front of an empty frame that will give you the same view as the painter. Then you can lose yourself wandering through the carugi, typical Ligurian alleys, suggestive, fairytale-like, made of bricks, sometimes covered with moss and sometimes with painted ceramics hanging in the streets. The Piazzetta dell'Armatore is suggestive, with the houses arranged in a circle, intimate, familiar with the coat of arms of the Doria family in the center. And, in fact, the beautiful Castello Doria, crossing the village you will find yourself there, at the highest point, at the castle that dates back to 1177 well preserved, full of legends and in the summer months of cultural events and exhibitions.
