The historic territory of Lunigiana

(Lunigiana)
Genre: culture

Lunigiana is a historic area located on the border between Tuscany and Liguria and takes its name from the ancient city of Luni. In this area there are about sixty castles among which the Castello della Verrucola stands out which dates back to 1200 and is surrounded by a small walled medieval village. The more daring tourists can try the zipline in the Equi Terme Caves Park. It allows you to cross the park tied to a hook that slides on a suspended cable. To be tasted absolutely are the Lunigiana food and wine products such as the China liqueur that is obtained from the bark of the homonymous plant or the Sgabei which are strips of fried bread dough that go well with cured meats. Very interesting is the city of Pontremoli which in ancient times was an obligatory stop for pilgrims who crossed the Via Francigena. Not far from here is Villa Dosi Delfini which is a mansion built by a wealthy merchant family and is a fine example of the Baroque style.
