A strategic and enchanting village: Montevarchi

We are in the wonderful Tuscany, in the province of Arezzo. We know that Tuscany is a land full of interests, where the stories and the beauty of the cities of art are famous all over the world. This part of the region is dotted with villages that have made history especially for the meeting point between the roads that connected Arezzo, Siena and Florence. This village occupied since ancient times a strategic position in the Valdarno area: we are talking about Montevarchi. Its name was associated with the castle, built on the top of the hill of Mount Santa Maria, a Capuchin convent and testimony of the sixteenth and seventeenth centuries. In the valley area is the historic center of the city, frequented by merchants and farmers who exchanged their products. Under the guidance of the Guidi Counts, the walls were erected in the market area. We also admire the Church of San Lorenzo, one of the oldest in the village. The heart of the city is gathered in Piazza Varchi, which overlooks the Palazzo Pretorio, the Cassero, a museum that contains about 2500 works including bronzes and marbles. We say goodbye to the city passing through the streets of fashion.
