Things to do in Italy > North Western Sardinian Coast

Stintino, the Caribbean of Italy

Where: stintino
(Stintino)
Genre: nature

With its white beaches, the colorful blue sea and an uncontaminated Mediterranean scrub surrounding it, Stintino is one of the many corners of paradise of a Sardinia that has nothing to envy to the most popular exotic destinations, placed on far more distant parallels. Located in the extreme north-western tip of the island, Stintino boasts one of the most beautiful beaches in Italy, including 'La Pelosa', overlooking the Asinara and characterized by a vast expanse of fine white sand kissed by a sea that it slowly degrades from the crystalline blue of the shore to the deep blue beyond the coast. A coast that, dotted with tuna and Aragonese towers, tells us of a past made up of invasions and fishing. Today fishing has given the scepter to tourism, which has become, over the years, the main activity and economic resource of the place. Despite the north of Sardinia is the chosen prey of a varied tourism, Stintino retains an intact naturalness, tangible in the gifts made by a generous Mother Nature who certainly did not spare herself here, providing it with other wonderful beaches, such as that of the Saline, extended on a white tongue of land, and Cala Coscia di Donna, characterized by brown cliffs in contrast with the crystalline sea. All around dominates a green Mediterranean scrub that proudly contemplates the Gulf of Asinara, one of the most beautiful of our sea, and beyond. Sardinia jealously keeps these jewels in its casket, but, at the same time, generously offers them to a tourist looking for the perfect combination of relaxation, sea and nature.
