Good wine, nature and history in San Polo di Piave

Where: san-polo-di-piave
(San Polo di Piave)
Genre: culture   nature   useful information

In the province of Treviso, in one of the most unspoiled and natural parts of the Veneto, stands San Polo di Piave; a colorful and wonderful village of 4000 inhabitants. Perhaps little known, but with many historical and cultural resources, San Polo is known for the presence of many vineyards and the consequent good wine. Between the hill on which it is located, nature, fresh and clean air and historic alleys (dating back to the Romans); San Polo is certainly an intriguing reality to live. More specifically, there are monuments that attest to the variety of cultures that have drawn fine lines in the evolution of the village. The ancient Church of San Giorgio, for example, presents frescoes and testimonies from ancient Rome to the Middle Ages. The Capitello delle Sette Strade, on the other hand, bears witness to the popular devotion to the countryside. The Votive Temple of the Blessed Virgin is a recent jewel of the village, it dates back to 1923 and its history is interesting. It is a sacred building built after a vow made by the inhabitants of San Polo, to stop the rain. The people are perhaps the most genuine component, ready to host tourists and anyone who wants to immerse themselves in an essential reality, but beautiful for its simplicity.
