Where: sutri
(Sutri)
Genre: culture

Sutri is a very interesting village inserted among the most beautiful in Italy. Located in the province of Viterbo, in the heart of Tuscia, it is located at 291 meters above sea level and has 6,000 inhabitants. Equidistant from Viterbo and Rome, it is easily accessible. Of very ancient origins, Suthrina is the name of Saturn for the Etruscans, it was then subjected to Rome which thanks to Furio Camillo drove them out of the territory. It therefore boasts ancient Etruscan and Roman remains. To visit Piazza Duomo with the ancient Romanesque Cathedral which boasts an imposing bell tower from the 1200s and a remarkable interior floor from the 1700s, the Lombard crypt is very interesting. The archaeological-landscape park with monumental Etruscan necropolis and Roman amphitheater is of absolute importance. Likewise to visit the ancient washhouse of the fourteenth century and the Fortebracci tower of the twelfth-thirteenth century. Interesting Porta Morone and via Garibaldi which branches off from it and Piazza San Francesco with the homonymous church. To conclude, a well-deserved mention of the Madonna del Parto, XIII-XIV century probably on an ancient site dedicated to the god Mithras.
