Where: camerino
(Camerino)
Genre: events    culture   wine and food

We are in Camerino, in the center of an unspoiled mountain area. Of Umbrian origin, a Roman municipality with its magistrates, a bishopric as early as 465. Destroyed in 1259 by Manfredi's army, it was resurrected thanks to the Varano family, which remained in power until 1539. Incorporated with the Marche in 1809. Today the territory of natural and architectural beauties, cultural traditions and good food. Cultural initiatives, sporting and musical events and food and wine events never fail, and they start from 6 January with the nougat festival and end in December with the Christmas concert. The architectural beauties to visit are the ancient University of Di Camerino, the Church of the Archiepiscopal Seminary, where works of fifteenth-century art are exhibited. The Venanzina Pennesi building houses both the Civic Museum and the Diocesan Museum with the masterpieces of the area saved from the ruins of the earthquake. Wonderful are Palazzo Castelli and Palazzo Sabbieti and the Unicam Planetarium. The botanical garden established in 1828 which extends for one hectare, which is accessed from the base of the walls.
