In the heart of Adria

Adria is located in the province of Rovigo and is a place with a very rich historical, artistic and cultural heritage. Exploring the historic center, the first thing we can admire is the Basilica of Santa Maria Assunta, built around the sixth century and renovated several times. The structure of the building has three naves and is also known as the Basilica della Tomba as its bell tower stands on the tomb of Quinto Tizio Sartoriano; inside we find some wonderful frescoes. Continuing along the narrow streets of the center, on Corso Vittorio Emanuele we pass by the ancient Church of San Nicola da Tolentino. We finally reach the heart of the center, where the imposing structure of the Cathedral of Adria stands, also dating back to the 6th century and renovated several times. The building has a three-nave plan and contains inside a bas-relief of great value depicting the Madonna enthroned with the child and on the sides the Archangels Michael and Gabriel as well as wonderful decorations and frescoes. Next to the entrance to the Cathedral is the Museo del Duomo.
