Cuneo is a capital of the Piedmontese province, rises 534 meters above sea level, has 55,000 inhabitants. It boasts a medieval checkerboard layout, partially altered in the Napoleonic era. Piazza Galimberti, nineteenth-century is the beating heart of the city; with its 24,000 square meters it contains one of the largest markets in Italy by turnout. In the same stands the Cathedral, dedicated to Our Lady of the Wood with an interesting neoclassical facade and a remarkable interior. Via Roma, a pedestrian street, is considered one of the most deserving walks in the whole of Piedmont, among its noble palaces and its pleasant historic center. Do not miss the Synagogue located in the old Jewish ghetto. Noteworthy is the Town Hall, former Jesuit college, and the civic tower. As for the churches, worth mentioning is Santa Maria della Pieve, a Jesuit with a concave façade, the Gothic San Francesco, whose monastery is the seat of the civic museum, Sant'Ambrogio, in honor of the Milanese who collaborated in the reconstruction in the thirteenth century.
