We arrive in the province of Lucca and we go to discover one of the most beautiful medieval villages of the Garfagnana, Barga. As soon as you arrive in the square you cannot help but notice the monument dedicated to Antonio Mordini. From here, flanking part of the walls, we enter the heart of the village, passing through one of the three main access gates, the Porta Reale. The village still retains the typical medieval road consisting of two main streets. Via Di Mezzo and Via Pretoria. Going along via Di Mezzo, we come across the Church of the Santissima Annunziata, inside which there are frescoes and paintings by the Barghigiano Baccio Ciarpi. We can admire the tombstone of Antonio Mordini, a patriot politician from Lucca. Continuing our walk, we meet the Teatro dei Differenti, inaugurated in 1795. Approaching the main square, Piazza Angelio, where the jazz festival takes place every year. The most important square of the village, Piazza Saldi, where the Loggia dei Mercanti, Palazzo Mordini and Palazzo Pancrazi are located. Once in the highest part of the historic center we can admire the majestic cathedral. We conclude our journey along via del Pretorio where we admire a huge garden belonging to the Saldi.
