Today we are going to visit Abbiategrasso, one of the largest municipalities in the province of Milan. We immediately enter the heart of the city, visiting the Visconteo Castle. Erected by Gian Galeazzo Visconti, of thirteenth-century matrix, it was strategically built in line with the Naviglio Grande and the road connecting with Milan. Although it appears to us to be the oldest, the Church of Santa Maria Vecchia holds the record. The building still preserves frescoes dating back to the Renaissance period. We then come to the Convent of the Annunciata, another historical monument of the city. Behind the convent you can enjoy a breathtaking view. Again we meet the Parish of San Pietro and the Church of San Bernardino, one of the most important churches, an enchanting example of Lombard Baroque, in honor of San Bernardino. Made so that it could accommodate a greater number of faithful than other churches. A few kilometers from the fashion capital, Abbiategrasso is perfect for spending a few days in peace and in the name of religion.
