Campodolcino is a delightful town in the province of Sondrio, in Lombardy in the Val Chiavenna, located precisely in the Spluga Valley. Known for being the birthplace of San Luigi Guanella in 1842. It is located on a deep and narrow valley, ideal for summer days, when the climate is cool. Around Campodolcino there are corners to be explored, small oases of peace. For those who love trekking there are various itineraries and excursions. The Via Spluga is a hiking itinerary that will make you retrace the history of Alpine transits. The most fascinating stretch is the Via del Cardinello, a wide mule track carved into the side of the mountain, along the way you can admire the typical Walser houses in stone and wood. With the sky express you reach Motta di Sotto, which after a short journey will lead you to the golden statue of the Madonna placed on the back of the serenissima at 2000 meters. 15 meters high, it is entirely composed of rameed and covered with gold foils. Continuing on the same road you reach the Blue Lake famous for the homonymous poem written by Carducci.
