Gressan is an Italian town of 3 395 inhabitants in the Aosta Valley. The town is located on the right side of the Dora in the large basin of the Aosta plain. Very close to the city (from which it is 5 kilometers away), yet surrounded by nature, Gressan differs from other places for the versatility of its landscape: from the moraine of Gargantua to the orchards of the valley bottom to the ski slopes of the renowned tourist resort of Pila, located at 1800 meters above sea level. It is located in the heart of the Aosta Valley, so from here it is easy to reach the surrounding areas and make many excursions. The landscape offers breathtaking scenery, as Gressan is surrounded by nature, on the slopes of Mont Blanc, Monte Rosa and Monte Cervino. Rich in history, Gressan was already inhabited in Roman times, and has numerous important historical buildings, such as the Church of the Madeleine, dedicated to Sainte-Marie-Madeleine, which has a Romanesque bell tower from 1200 among the most beautiful in the Aosta Valley . The Tour de Ville Castle was born as a fortification and over the centuries it became a bishop's summer residence; the interior retains part of the original furnishings, as in the case of the private chapel and the Lord's Reception Hall. Legend has it that Gressan is found in the little finger of the giant Gargantua, to which an educational museum is also dedicated: Maison de Gargantua.
