We are on the Tremiti Islands, to be precise on the island of San Nicola, in Puglia in the Adriatic Sea. A narrow and long strip of land consisting of a rocky plateau with vertical coasts. On this land there are traces of protohistoric settlements from the first millennium BC. C. There we find piling holes of huts from the Iron Age, and sepulchral pits, as well as two cave tombs. A Hellenistic settlement has also been found. Following the perimeter of the island clockwise, starting from the port, we find the aqueduct, which can be placed between the first century BC. There is the first century AD. C. The Punta del Cimitero, with an overhanging cliff, the Cala della Punta del Cimitero, the Grotta del Ferraio and the Muratta, derived from the murattini who lived there in the Napoleonic age. The port of the island is dominated by the 11th century abbey complex of Santa Maria a Mare. Through the portal we go inside, crossing the walls, so we find the convent Castello fortified thanks to Charles of Anjou.
