Journey on the Marche coast

(Costa Marchigiana)
Genre: culture   nature

The coastal part of the Merche is perfect for those who want to enjoy even just a holiday weekend, but where to go? Let's discover together some places that definitely deserve to be visited. Among these there are certainly two beaches: the free beach MezzaValle, which can be reached on foot, but given the dirt descent that leads us to the shore we recommend the use of comfortable shoes, and not far from here we also find the beautiful beach of Portonovo. But the Marches are not only sea, in this part of the region it is also possible to see beautiful and immense fields of sunflowers, which certainly deserve a stop just to admire them. And you cannot visit this area without seeing the beautiful city of Ancona. Beautiful views but not only that, the city has a lot to offer visitors. We recommend a visit to the Blue Grotto, a small cave carved by the waves of the sea that can be reached inside by swimming. But for those who love visiting cities, Ancona offers splendid views, buildings and monuments. You cannot miss a visit to the Piazza del Papa overlooked by the church of San Domenico, which can be visited inside and houses works of art by Tiziano and Guercino. Not far away we find the fountain of Calamo dating back to 1500, also called the fountain of 13 spouts due to its structure, and is one of the most visited works in the city. Another religious building that deserves to be visited in Ancona is the Romanesque church of Santa Maria della Piazza, built between the 11th and 12th centuries that immediately enchants the visitor with its facade decorated with blind arches. In short, the Marche coast offers all kinds of activities, from walking and stopping at wonderful beaches to visiting splendid places and works of art.
