Where: maratea
(Maratea)
Genre: culture   nature   useful information

We are in the pearl of the Gulf of Policastro, overlooking the Tyrrhenian Sea: today we are going to discover Maratea. There are ten things you absolutely must do, let's find out which ones! We enter the historic center and walk along the road that takes us to the summit of Monte San Biagio. Here we come to the most important monument of Maratea, as well as the tallest statue in Italy: the Statue of the Redeemer. The work depicts Christ the Redeemer, after the Resurrection; a particular optical effect makes it look like looking at the sea when observing it from afar. We stop to appreciate the wonderful landscape that this city offers us from above! We continue our visit, discovering some of the dozens of churches present, such as the Church of San Vito, dell'Annunziata, dell'Immacolata, dell'Addolorata and the Pontifical Basilica of San Biagio. We continue walking through the streets of the town, where we can taste some of the delicacies of the area. We conclude our trip by allowing ourselves a little relaxation along the coast, consisting of wonderful beaches and crystal clear waters.
