Valbrona, Como Prealps

Valbrona is a Lombard municipality, part of the province of Como. Located at 500 meters above sea level, it has 2,500 inhabitants. Immersed in a thick green in the heart of the Larian territory, it rises in a valley full of woods, slopes and waters. It boasts very ancient Celtic origins, some rare finds remain in this regard; once an agricultural village, today Valbrona is devoted to craftsmanship and industry: scissors and metalworking. However, the main resource is the luxuriant nature and consequently tourism. Its intense green was immortalized by the painter Segantini. A project for Valbrona has recently started with the aim of promoting and enhancing the town, focusing on illustrative brochures, mapping of nature trails and everything that can bring tourists closer. Although the lion's share is made by naturalism with cycle and pedestrian paths, interesting cavities in the rock, caves, there is no shortage of monuments. We remember the church of San Rocco with its particular altar in carved wood, the parish church of Santi Materno and Apollinare which preserves the bull of forgiveness, granted by Pope Benedict XIV, the Church of San Michele with interesting frescoes.
