Attigliano, one of the most beautiful villages in Italy

Where: attigliano
(Attigliano)
Genre: culture

Attigliano is a small town located in Umbria in the province of Terni and has about 2000 inhabitants. Terni is bordered by the banks of the well-known Tiber river. The city is of Etruscan origin, in the past, in its territory, remains of pottery, tombs and crypts were found. Later it is part of the Roman era thanks to the discovery of coins and lead water systems typical of the Roman era. In the imperial age its center became much larger and more populated but later in the lower empire its history was interrupted due to the barbarian invasions and the economic crisis that hit this area. Unfortunately the castle today is almost completely ruined, only small parts remain standing. The Attigliano coat of arms, created around the mid-nineteenth century, represents a shield with a baronial crown and a mythological Hippogriff. In Attigliano we can admire the dolphin fountain located in the center of the main square, the church of San Lorenzo martire, the bell tower in piazza della Rocca.
