Cento is an Emilian town in the province of Ferrara, often referred to as 'the little Bologna' due to its similarities with the city both for the famous arcades that cross it and for numerous traditional dishes. The town structure dates back to the Middle Ages and among the most important places of interest is the Rocca, dating back to 300, born for defensive purposes, today a place for exhibitions and cultural activities, as well as for tourist visits. A very particular attraction is 'the giant's garden' built between 2000 and 2006, it is an artistic garden that presents numerous works and installations. It was conceived by the artist Marco Pellizzola, inspired by a fairy tale written by his daughter. It is possible to read the fairy tale at the entrance and relive it with the installations that reflect some of the characters. Giovanni Francesco Barbieri known as Guercino, is one of the most famous illustrious people of Cento. Some of his works are preserved in the civic art gallery, and in the city there is also a statue in his honor. The city is also very famous for its very old Carnival, the Cento Literary Prize and the Cento Fair, which take place every year.
