San Valentino in Abruzzo Citiori is an Italian town of 1 889 inhabitants in the province of Pescara in Abruzzo. The village is located at 450 meters, so you can enjoy a magnificent view in the surrounding area. It is a pretty medieval village, full of alleys where it is easy to find tranquility. In the municipality, settlements in a cave dating back to prehistoric times have been found, which suggests that there were already inhabitants in the area at that time. The territory around the year 1000 felt the need for a fortification to protect itself from barbarian attacks; therefore in 1006 it was officially founded. Until 1182 it was known as Castrum de Petra, and subsequently took its recent name due to the martyrdom of the brothers Valentino and Damiano in a village in the locality of Zappino. In the main square we can find the Cathedral, dedicated to the martyrs Valentino and Damiano; The cathedral is an eighteenth-century church with a double bell tower. Founded around the 12th century, as legend has it, to welcome the martyrs Valentino and Damiano, it was completely rebuilt between 1771 and 1791. Palazzo Farnese, a Norman fortification founded on the remains of a Lombard fortification, is very beautiful.
