Things to do in Italy > Mount Argentario

A natural peninsula

Where: monte-argentario
(Monte Argentario)
Genre: culture   nature   useful information

Monte Argentario is a rare and beautiful promontory almost completely surrounded by the sea. It is connected to the mainland by the two beaches of Giannella and Feniglia and by the artificial road that divides the Orbetello Lagoon in two. It is a natural peninsula in all respects, a stunning experience for those who love to discover nature in its primordial forms. In fact, it offers breathtaking views everywhere, outlets to the sea and attractions that make it a world apart, despite being in the province of Grosseto. Monte Argentario is made up of several hamlets and places of interest. Among these it is worth highlighting the brilliant beaches of Porto Santo Stefano or Porto Ercole, difficult to reach, but capable of transporting the visitor to a maritime paradise. And the rich historical testimonies, such as Forte Filippo, Forte Stella and other strongholds / fortresses, belonging to the medieval Spanish dominion over the village. The past is perhaps the key word, since for many years, in an area almost detached from the landscape and geophysical continuity of Italy, it is possible to enjoy an islet (almost) in all its spontaneous beauty, probably feeling in another era .
