Where: silandro/schlanders
(Silandro)
Genre: culture   nature   useful information

Halfway between Merano and the Resia Pass, in the province of Bolzano, the charming village of Silandro is one of the most sought after destinations in the Val Venosta. Thanks to the presence of spectacular meadows and pastures, agriculture and livestock provide a significant contribution to the local economy. Along with breeding, apple cultivation is widespread, to which Val Venosta has always seen its name associated in the collective imagination. Silandro is the district capital of the Val Venosta. The beating heart of the town is the historic center, completely a pedestrian area, which with its characteristic alleys and buildings, will immerse the visitor in an atmosphere of total relaxation. Two military castles still stand in Schlanders: the 18th century Schlandersburg and the 13th century Schlandersberg. From Silandro it is also possible to enjoy the countless landscape beauties along various paths immersed in the Stelvio Park; a well known and appreciated path is the walk of the sun, which passes through beautiful vineyards, chestnut and apple orchards.
