Arcidosso: a village to be discovered

Where: arcidosso
(Arcidosso)
Genre: culture   nature

Today we are going to discover Arcidosso: one of the most evocative villages at the foot of Monte Amiata, where the richness of history, culture, art and traditions blends with natural beauty. Historically one of the most important centers of the provinces of Siena and Grosseto, it can be reached along the main communication roads. Arriving on site, we note that the oldest part, as well as the symbol of the city, is characterized by the presence of the Rocca Aldobrandesca, around which the whole history of the town revolves. Adjacent to the imposing fortress, the splendid medieval village develops. We then enter, passing through the characteristic paved and labyrinthine streets, which, once, housed the shops of arts and crafts, where we will notice the medieval churches of San Niccolò and San Leonardo and continuing, one of the most significant examples of Romanesque architecture of the Medieval Tuscany: the parish church of Santa Maria in Làmula. Before saying goodbye to this wonderful village, we can only make a small detour to one of the most revered sanctuaries of Monte Amiata: the Church of the Madonna delle Grazie (or of the Immaculate Conception), inside which there are different works of art, including, the Madonna and Child, which can only make you speechless.
