Rovereto, the city of oak

Where: rovereto
(Rovereto)
Genre: culture

Rovereto, known as the city of the oak: we are in the center of the Adige valley and the place in question develops around the Forbato bridge, on the Leno stream that connects north and south. A first nucleus, of medieval character, develops around the Castelbarco castle, which will be fortified during the Venetian domination. In 1412, the domination by Venice takes place which still bears some signs of the present city including the door of San Marco, the entrance door to Piazza San Marco where the largest church of Rovereto is located, which shows on the facade the symbol of Venice, the lion of San Marco. In 1750 the Rovereto academy of the wealthy was born. The eighteenth century is also the year in which the buildings that still adorn Corso Bettini will be built, which leads us to the modern part of Rovereto. In this area we find the MArt, a museum of modern and contemporary art, which hosts many exhibitions and millions of visitors. Rovereto is chosen as it is the point of union between the north (Germanic world) and the south (Latin world). The museum was strongly desired by the Trentino artist Fortunato Depero who left the city a heritage of almost 3000 pieces.
