A tour to discover the Pistoia Mountains between wild nature and timeless places

(Montagna pistoiese)
Genre: nature   wine and food

The Pistoia mountains are a geographical area located in the southern area of the Tuscan-Emilian Apennines. The region includes several municipalities: Sambuca Pistoiese, Abetone Cutigliano, San Marcello Piteglio, Marliana, Pescia, Pistoia, Montale. It is mainly a mountainous area where tourism focuses on trekking routes and on the discovery of the naturalistic landscape. Among the major places of interest we remember: the Orsigna valley, place of retreat of the writer Tiziano Terzani, the suspension bridge located in the municipality of San Marcello Piteglio, one of the longest in the world, the astronomical observatory of Pian dei Termini, and six naturalistic itineraries that make up the Ecomuseum of the Pistoia mountains and allow users to discover an enviable flora and fauna. However, the timeless experiences of those who decide to visit small towns, medieval villages, characteristic precisely for having preserved over time the charm of a distant era, are no less. Places where every glimpse fills the eyes with beauty. By visiting these places you can celebrate all the small uniqueness that represent it: the typical raw materials such as porcini mushrooms and blueberries, chestnuts, typical cheeses and cured meats.
