Stories from Brugherio

Where: brugherio
(Brugherio)
Genre: culture

Brugherio: land of hot air balloons and history. It is said that at the time, a very rich young boy of about twenty made his first flight in Italy in a hot-air balloon, near his residence villa, Villa Andreani, a villa with sections of Milanese baroque that can still be visited today. It is said that the young man landed near a farmhouse near Bussero. One particular fact is still remembered with pleasure: when the balloon, guided by the young man, landed, it hit the branches of a nearby mulberry tree, breaking them. From a religious point of view, in the village it is also possible to visit the temple of Moncucco: the temple of Moncucco was bought in Lugano by his brother Gianmario in 1815, after the fall of Napoleon. It was transported disassembled and subsequently reassembled in Brugherio. The brazier that the young man used to fly the balloon for the first time was reused to cover the dome of the temple; it is still possible to observe it today. Inside the temple is rich in decorations and finishes dated 1520 by the Comacini masters.
