Journey to discover the eco-sustainable Valdera, an agglomeration of villages in the province of Pisa

(Valdera)
Genre: culture   nature

The Valdera area is located in the province of Pisa and includes numerous municipalities and characteristic villages. It therefore lends itself to a tour to discover particular and little-known views, in addition to the natural landscapes typical of the region. Starting from Borgo di Lari you can discover and taste the three milks cheese, made with cow, sheep and goat milk. The village is famous for its cherry salami, but another typical product is pasta, of which Lari is a major producer. You can visit the historic pasta factory still in operation. The view from the castle is also very impressive. Continue the tour by visiting Peccioli where you cannot miss a visit to the Verano church and the Vittorio Messina sculpture which represents a panoramic point. Peccioli is also home to an ecological landfill that transforms its waste into renewable energy. Also suggestive is the installation of a human statue that seems to come out of the ground. Wind turbines are also present in the area. We will then continue to San Miniato, famous for its truffles and leather. Last stop Montecastello, a hamlet of Pontedera, a village of very few souls, where you can visit the Villa Torrigiani Malaspina and the Church of Santa Lucia.
