La Thuile, a village surrounded by natural beauty

Where: la-thuile
(La Thuile)
Genre: events    nature

La Thuile is a village located at the foot of the Rutor Glacier and the Piccolo San Bernardo, at an altitude of 1441 meters. Its position is strategic as it is located along the road that, through the Piccolo San Bernardo pass, connects the Aosta Valley to France. The Colle is in fact historical testimony of the crossing point frequented from prehistoric times to the modern age which makes the Thuile an exceptional place from a historical point of view. But the village also reserves natural and landscape beauties. Its mining past, for the construction of the tunnels, is still visible today and some itineraries allow you to visit the infrastructure of the coal and silver mines. We can then admire the spectacular Rutor waterfalls, its great mountain on which the huge glacier, beloved by mountaineers, develops. And again the Verney lake, the Chanousia botanical garden, within which it is possible to find some of the most typical species of this land. But there is no shortage of parties which certainly cannot be missed; we are talking about the Fete de Berges, at Colle San Bernardo, organized on the Sunday following that of August and the Feast of Santa Marherita al Rutor which is held every 20 July.
