(Porto Ceresio)
Genre: culture   nature

Porto Ceresio is a picturesque village in the province of Varese, surrounded by the waters of Lake Lugano and the green hills that frame a magical territory. The walk on the lake shore is only one of the many aspects for which it is worth visiting this place, in fact we find numerous attractions such as the Church of Sant'Ambrogio, set in the historic center together with its bell tower built in 1911 and which constitutes a point of 'unparalleled observation, capable of fully breathing the sense of profound freedom. Then there are the military fortifications still present today on Mount Grumello and in the vicinity of the railway station, which date back to the First World War and make up the famous Cadorna Line whose name derives from the famous general Luigi Cadorna who ordered it to protect the border from enemy troops. Located in the ancient nucleus at the Corte del Pozzo, it is possible to visit the Appiani Lopez Ethnographic Museum, which houses a collection planned over 11 rooms. The whole territory is to be considered a paleontological site given the extraordinary wealth of finds.
