The Marsica is a region that is part of the Abruzzo hinterland, originally inhabited by the Marsi, who had settled there starting from the first millennium BC. C. This area is located on the border with Lazio, and includes 37 municipalities in the province of L'Aquila, the capital of the Abruzzo region. The most popular of these is Avezzano, with a population of around 128,000. The video offers a short guide inside the municipality of Villavallelonga, which has a small population of 857 inhabitants, and is included in the national park of Abruzzo, Molise and Lazio. The authors of the video begin their journey from the small church 'La Madonna della Lana', located a few kilometers from the town in question. A legend tells that the inhabitants of the area where this church is located wanted to take possession of this Madonna, an attempt that always failed due to the inhabitants of Villavallelonga, who have always considered themselves the masters of this small place of worship. Within the municipality, it is possible to visit the open-air museum 'Plants, Shepherds, Witches and Brigands', where numerous letters and photos dating back to the historical period in which the brigands invaded the area of Villavallelonga are exhibited. Another important feature is the numerous presence of beech trees, which even reach 600 years of age.
