( Vadena)
Genre: nature   useful information

Vadena is located in the Trentino Alto Adige region in the province of Bolzano and has about 1000 inhabitants. Its land is mainly used for the production of apples and grapes. The historical roots of Vadena are very ancient, in fact human settlements existed in Laimburg since prehistoric times since the Bronze Age. During the visit to Vadena we cannot miss the lakes of Caldaro and Monticolo on whose banks there are important tourist facilities. At the ruins of Castel Varco, Castelchiaro and in the Valle della Primavera it is possible to go on excursions especially in the intermediate seasons. Its territory is very large, it extends for about 13 square km, with 11 small hamlets: Cervo, Ischia Frizzi, Move, Masetta, Centro, Caneve, Birti, Carmel, Piccolongo, Monte and Campi al lago. In Birti there is only a Romanesque bell tower that has been recently restored and is a reference point for its inhabitants. About 200 years ago its church was demolished due to the flooding of the Adige river, subsequently the bell tower was incorporated into a new farmhouse and used in all its floors. The restoration lasted about three years and ended in 2010 bringing back the bell tower of the Birti in all its glory.
