Val Passiria by bike: cycle path from Merano to San Leonardo

(Val Passiria)
Genre: culture   fun   useful information

If you think of South Tyrol, you cannot help but think of greenery and nature, in fact it is precisely here that we find Val Passiria. As can be easily guessed from the name of a stretch of a valley in the province of Bolzano, between the Ötztal Alps and the Stubai Alps. If for most these areas of Italy are known for the various trekking routes, Val Passiria is also perfect for those who love cycling, because a cycle path is available. The route has been left mostly natural as there is no asphalt in any part of the stretch, it is about 20 km (40 km round trip), with a difference in height of 370 meters. It starts from the city of Merano, goes up the river and reaches San Leonardo. The cycle path does not cross any village in the area although these are very close and easily accessible. In fact, if you want to take a break, you can visit the Andreas Hofer museum. In short, a visit to Val Passiria for bicycle lovers not only offers a beautiful route but also nature and culture.
