The Langhe are a hilly area of the lower Piedmont area between the provinces of Asti and Cuneo. Among all the municipalities and towns that are part of it, Alba is certainly well known, famous all over the world for its characteristic White Truffle. A very fine raw material used in the kitchen for dishes with a unique flavor. The town is located in the province of Cuneo, on the east bank of the Tànaro river. In addition to the truffle, Alba is also known as 'the city of a hundred towers' for the many towers erected for defensive purposes in past centuries. Not all of them are visible today, and some have been incorporated into the buildings. Worthy of note is a visit to the Cathedral of San Lorenzo and Piazza Duomo, from which you can admire three of the most important towers, including the Torre di Casa Chiarone. There are many civil buildings to admire while walking through the historic center, and it is important to underline the presence of a renowned oenological school, founded in 1881, and closely linked to the Langhe area, very famous for its wine production. From Alba you can easily move towards Diano d'Alba, a small medieval village, with panoramic points and many culinary traditions.
