Villacidro is a town in the southern hinterland of Sardinia. One of the most beautiful natural attractions in Sardinia, the Sa Spendula waterfall (in Sardinian 'the waterfall'), is located right here. It was made famous by the poet poet Gabriele D'Annunzio who dedicated a sonnet to this locality in 1882, called 'La Spendula'. This beautiful waterfall originates from Rio Coxinas, in the protected area of Monti Mannu. The road to get there has the typical Mediterranean vegetation and is full of oleanders and junipers, offering the visitor an enchanting scenery. The waterfall has a height of 60 meters and has 3 jumps about 20 meters apart. The ideal time to admire it is Autumn, when the first rains of the season made their appearance swelling the stream. In the vicinity of Sa Spendula it is possible to admire numerous caves and natural inlets, as well as a dense and luxuriant vegetation. The play of lights recreated by night lighting directly on the waterfall is also very impressive.
